    • I appreciate everything you have done for me and my family. [My daughter] has been in the hospital since she was born. She just turned one on February first. It has been hard for all of us, especially for [My daughter]. She is soon to come home and the reason for that is the wonderful nurses and the financial help from you. Thank you.
    • I would like to thank you so much for helping me and my family so much. I think this is a great program. I got to spend a lot more time with my baby. It helped to know that someone came and made me feel like I am not in this all by myself.
    • I would like to thank you very much for helping me, in my time of need. I really appreciate your generosity as I am going through a rough time as you know. [My daughter] is doing well. She is almost three pounds. She is still on the ventilator but hopefully in another week she will be off life support. I will keep you informed on how [she] is doing and myself as well. People like you make me really think there is a God. I will once again like to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  • Providing care bags to families in their time of need

After spending time in the hospital, we learned what items hospitalized families need but won’t leave their child’s side to go to the store to get. To help families who are in this situation, we developed Kylie Care Kits.

Care kits are filled with items related to basic personal, comfort, and communication needs. Kylie Care Kits Include items like: A cozy blanket, long distance calling cards, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, lotion, flip flops (for the showers),deodorant, lip balm, laundry supplies, tissues, soap, gum, plastic bags that seal (to hold the toiletries), disposable cameras, Purell sanitizing lotion, a journal, and more. Care Bag Program Testimonial:

    • A staff member’s perspective on the Care Bag program: On behalf of the Pediatric intensive care unit and the hem/one. Division I want to say thank you so much once again for your wonderful donations of care bags. These bags are just phenomenal! They are so practical for the families that need to be in the hospital for an extended period of time, or families that are admitted often and emergencies on trauma and often have nothing with them. We receive countless thank you’s from families who get a bag. We feel so fortunate to have your continual support and your generosity doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you so much for truly making an impact on our patients and families. We are forever grateful for all that you do.

    Holiday program testimonial:

    • From a family who received a Halloween blanket: My daughter was in the NICU at rainbow from Oct.29-Nov.3, then moved to the step-down unit and was discharged Nov.24th. While she was in the NIC U, she received an adorable Halloween blanket and a little pumpkin for trick-or-treating with candy (my husband and I enjoyed the candy?). My daughter was born on 10/29 and the first time I saw her was 10/30, so when I walked into the NICU on Halloween and saw your gift, it made me so happy. She was under the billiruben lights for jaundice and had a purple mask to protect her eyes. It was perfect for Halloween. We called her the “purple bandit’’. Your gift meant a lot to us and made us feel like we weren’t in this alone. People were praying and thinking for her and caring for her when we couldn’t be with her. Thank you for your caring and generosity.

  • Installing Sky Ceilings

The Sky Light of hope program enhances pediatric and family spaces through the installation of sky ceilings created by The Sky Factory. You can visit www.skyfactory.com to view all the different ways to transform windowless walls into radiant portals to the natural world.

When Kylie was diagnosed with Cancer in January of 2005, we never imagined she would never leave the hospital again. Because she was unable to leave, friends and family joined together to decorate her room and help bring the sunshine in to her room. She was not alone in this situation. There were may more children who were not well enough to leave the hospital for some time. After Kylie passed away in May of 2005, we began a Skylight of Hope program in order to enhance the physical surroundings of children fighting life-threatening illnesses. If they are unable to go outside, we want to bring the outdoors inside, and in turn inspire the hope that resides within each of them.

You can sponsor a Sky Light of Hope. Please call 330-808-KJLF or email info@kyliejanelong.org for more details to arrange a sponsorship.
