Thank you to all our volunteers and supporters in 2007. Whether you created a care bag, made a monetary donation, planned a fundraiser or participated in our Twinkle Light Toy Drive, your impact was felt by many children and families who had to live in the hospital.

In celebration of winter fun, Hope on the Slopes is a unique 12 hour snow sport event open to all who hope to make a difference in the lives of local pediatric patients facing life-threatening illnesses. A collaborative effort between The Kylie Jane Long Foundation and Boston Mills/Brandywine Resort, Hope on the Slopes celebrates all who want to make a difference in the world of a child.
When: February 23, 2008 10am – 10 pm Where: Boston Mills/Brandywine/Polar Blast, Peninsula Ohio What: Teams and individuals register to ski/snowboard/snow tube in a relay format for 12 hours and raise funds based on pledges and team sponsorships. Additionally, school groups will be encouraged to hold spare change drives and care bag product drives to benefit The Kylie Jane Long Foundation.
Hope on the Slopes will provide fun for not only relay and school teams, but the general public too. Events also include a silent auction, hourly raffles, slalom race, big-air competition, cardboard sled race, snow tubing, live entertainment, a torch light parade, and much, much more!
Why: Kylie Jane Long, the daughter of avid skiers and former Boston Mills/Brandywine ski instructors, developed a rare, childhood liver cancer at the age of 8 months. She underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy in attempts to beat her cancer; unfortunately, three days after her first birthday, she lost her battle. Based on the unique perspective Kylie’s family gained while living in the hospital with her, and through inspiration gained from all the community support they received, Kylie’s friends and family founded The Kylie Jane Long Foundation. Upon hearing Kylie’s story, the Boston Mills/Brandywine team was inspired to further her mission.
The Kylie Jane Long Foundation is an entirely volunteer run, local 501 (c)(3) organization benefiting area families. Its mission is to enhance the lives of local pediatric patients and their families by providing assistance, improving physical spaces, educating parents and medical staffs, and raising awareness of rare pediatric cancers.
