While in the hospital with Kylie, we had many friends and family send us wonderful care packages.  These packages included everything from phone calling cards to shampoo and even magazines.  Although these items seems simple, when we were living in crisis, the simplest gestures meant the world to us.  Sadly, we noticed few other families had the support we had received.  No parent wants to leave his or her child for even basic items while in the hospital.

So together with the hospital staff, other families, and the knowledge we gained from our experience, we developed the “Kylie Care Kit.” 

Kylie Care Kits are now distributed to local families living with their child in a pediatric hospital for an extended period of time.

Long distance calling cards, toothpaste, shampoo, lotion, flip flops (for the showers), deodorant, lip balm, laundry supplies, tissues, soap, gum, magazines, plastic bags that seal (to hold the toiletries), disposable cameras, a fleece blanket, a journal, business card organizers (for doctors and support services), and a family resource folder
